I wanna go saaaaiiilllinnggg

I am realizing how much I am going to miss my beautiful island more and more, and today I felt a heaviness in my heart as I realized how unlikely the chances are of my going sailing this summer.

K-RAE SMITHBa

Some of her superb collage.
Grandma Smith
Baby Bloo dog, her girl.

Kayley-Rae is one of those girls who sincerely don't give a fuck, she parties hard and has done some obscene things (kissing Mickey Avalon just to mention) but at the end of the day, she's the girl who is going to take you home, feed you her specialized salad and coffee and get you to pop some advil to feel better. Kayley recently has been modelling for Sitka and other BC based designers, and her future is damn bright. We lived together for a little over 4 months during the summer, we shared clothes and opinions, smoked a lot, worked at the same job, and we still managed to keep a stable relationship. The only reason I think we maintained this was because of our creative minds.
I love Kayley, and despite the fact that our worlds are separating as I attempt to conquer the
East and her the West, we will always be in tune.. I guess its a pisces thang'.

HOW I DO

Here are some recent photos, which include apartments slept in, food eaten, drinks drank, music heard, and friends of ours. The last four are of an editorial in TLC Magazine  that just came out which features me shot by Jonathan Bell and styled by Stephanie Hartwig of Addiction Boutique. I've been living too much in reality to be posting in dream world, which has plagued me with a teeny bit of guilt, but have no fear, we'll always be here for you to waste time and fantasize with.

TV Girl is the perfect music to sit by the pool, lake or ocean (whichever you desire) and splay out in the sun reminiscing and drinking a gin and tonic (our preferred drink these days). I can't remember where it is I found them, but I signed up for their email list and was pleasantly surprised when they gifted all of their subscribers with their new EP 'Benny and the Jets' for a quick taste test before the big debut.
You can now check it out here and let me tell you, it is as sweet as the freshest cherries in the sweetest cherry pie. I hope your eating lots of fresh fruit and getting laid, happy summer.

New body chain - front

and the back

Art I made of Sondercroft & Sym's big camp-out.

Richie Rich Richards.
Bedazzled and chopped.
I haven't posted in a while because I have been busy creating, shooting and having fun, but here for all your illustrious eyes to see. To begin, the body chain was inspired when Rachel and I came across a perfect long gold chain like it was destiny (our girls at Sondercroft make divine body chains so check em out!) Although it is not particularly good for evening wear (I wore it to a party and it broke a lot) it is a delicate piece for the day. These shorts are perfect for summer and I finally have time for collaging again- well sorta. I hope your summer days are eventful and beautiful.

the plus side

I came across this interview on Vice today which I really enjoyed reading on my ferry ride home, about Terry Richardson shooting...wait for it... plus-size models! So cheeky.

New York Magazine Assistant Editor Who Shall Remain Nameless: What was the concept of the shoot? Where did the idea come from?
VICE:
The idea was sparked by Fashion Week Internationale, a forthcoming fashion series we’re currently shooting for VBS.TV. The show’s premise is that many different types of Fashion Weeks happen around the world on a regular basis, but nobody in the mainstream press covers them because they’re not endorsed by fancy car companies and don’t feature dead-eyed skeletons with deviated septums. Our first episode was shot at Islamabad Fashion Week, which was the only time we’ve ever seen a woman in a hijab power-walk down a runway. Last month we shot a piece on Full Figured Fashion Week in New York. The ladies in attendance were some of the most vivacious and unpretentious models we’ve ever met, and we thought a corresponding photo shoot would be a perfect fit for Terry. As you can see, it was.
How/when did Terry Richardson get involved?
This is a dumb question. Do some research.
What went into the casting of the shoot?
We asked some of the models and agents at Full Figured Fashion Week if they’d be interested in getting shot by Terry. They were, of course, probably because he is one of THE BIGGEST PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE WORLD. We went through MSA Models and booking agent Ms. Theresa for most of the girls. The rest were unaffiliated models who were thrilled to participate.
Is there a reason why most of the models were non-white? Was there any sort of statement being made there?
What kind of statement are you making by asking this question, New York Magazine? We requested full-figured women and they provided us with a broad selection of potential models, from which we made our final picks for the shoot. It so happened that many of the women at Full Figured Fashion Week were “non-white.” What’s your problem with this? All of the women look absolutely beautiful in the shots. Why are you so hung up on their ethnicities?
Why did you pick the title “Tons of Fun”?
Because everyone at the shoot had tons of fun.
Where was it shot?
At Terry’s studio. Bye.

Tim Barber for Aurel Schmidt
I have been fatigued, inspired and infatuated for the past few days - drinking more gin than water and not bicycling enough. I will get back into it now, since the weekend is over, I hope. I made a body chain and some new DIY denim shorts, pictures soon.
